Open rubber mixer Working Principle

The Rubber Mixing Mill is equipped with two parallel rollers rotating relative to each other, and the rubber mixture is placed in the gap between the two rollers. The rollers squeeze and shear the rubber raw material by rotating in the opposite direction, which breaks the macromolecule chain of the rubber inside, and makes the various components and additives in the mixture mix evenly.

The rubber sheet is discharged from the gap between the rollers, and then wrapped in one of the rollers due to the difference in surface temperature and speed of the two rollers, and then returned to the two rollers, and so on, thus completing the refining process. In openers used for continuous operation, the rubber raw material is continuously added from one end of the rollers, passed through the rollers several times in accordance with the time required by the refining process, and the required rubber strip is continuously cut from the other end of the rollers.

The raw rubber material and the required additives are loaded into the feed zone of the opener. As the rollers rotate, the rubber compound is pinched between the two rollers to be squeezed and sheared, and as the rubber compound softens, it begins to move between the two rollers in a circular motion, and after a number of squeezes, the compound and the additives are homogeneously mixed and dispersed. After mixing, the rubber mixture is in the form of continuous belt, sheet or other specific shapes as required, and will be unloaded through the discharge device of the opener.

The friction ratio of a rubber opener, also known as the coefficient of friction, is the ratio of the friction between two rollers rotating in opposite directions to the friction between the rubber mixtures. This parameter is critical as it directly affects mix quality and process control.

A higher friction ratio promotes heating and mixing of the rubber compound, but also increases energy consumption and rubber wear. Lower friction ratios require more time to achieve the desired mixing effect. Different rubber production processes require different friction ratios.
